What a Bash!
SILT’s been partying all summer, but it’s party with a punch – everyone gets to socialize with friends and neighbors while learning more about what we’re up to and how they can join in the fun.
More than 30 Fairfield friends were the first to hear a big announcement from Harn Soper, founder of Sustainable Farm Partners. He told the group that SFP will put a SILT easement on every farm they own in Iowa! Guests enjoyed a gourmet potluck, live music and the debut of Jimmy Ryan’s production of John Ikerd’s Soul of Iowa to raise nearly $1,000 for SILT and garner 4 more queries about land protection. This incredible event was hosted by Gitam and Jimmy Ryan and SILT Board Member Stuart Valentine.

More than a dozen friends came to Rachel Garst’s home to hear more about SILT in the grandest neighborhood in Des Moines. The room was full of new faces interested in the SILT model and people asking how they can help. Nearly half signed up as monthly donors!
Neal and Jan Flora of Ames, Board member George Oamek and volunteer Breanne Seidle in Honey Creek and Marge and Eugene Knoploh in Sumber also hosted smaller gatherings, and more are in the works.
