Luzum Heritage Hills
Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Decorah, Iowa, Luzum Heritage Hills Farm stands as a testament to the enduring commitment of the Luzum family to sustainable agriculture. With a rich history spanning generations, this 170-acre heritage farm holds a special place in the heart of the community.
The Luzum Family Legacy:
In 2017, the Luzum family generously donated their beloved heritage farm to the Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT), marking the largest such donation of its kind. Their vision for the farm extends beyond their tenure, as they sought to ensure its protection in perpetuity as a sustainable table food farm. Their generosity provides a lasting legacy of stewardship and environmental conservation for future generations.
Community Service and Stewardship:
Lyle and Sue Luzum, esteemed members of the community, are recognized for their dedicated service on various boards, including the school board, the food co-op board, and planning and zoning committees. Their commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship has left an indelible mark on Decorah and beyond. Their daughter, Steph Hughes, along with her husband Matt, continue to uphold the family’s legacy in Decorah.
